Proper use of grease zerks on axles-

In theory:

Dexter E-Z Lube® video

In practice:

Blown seals

Grease covered brake shoes

Magnet faces covered in grease

When grease is pumped into the hubs, the excess has to go somewhere, and usually it goes past the seal and ruins the brake shoes and magnets.

From our experience, the vast majority of end users (with brakes anyway) would be better off putting down the grease gun and doing a normal wheel bearing repack once a year.  Watch-  Dexter bearing maintenance video
